Randomness

How do you combat a nasty little realization you've come to? For me...I go out and do things to my hair. Or, well, pay to have them done anyway. After a lovely 2 hours at the salon today, this is what I came home with.

What do you think? You can be honest here.

And a better view of the colors. Yes, colors. There are three in there. Hey -- if only one color is not enough for a quilt, why in the world should I limit my hair color?

As a comparison -- this is what I'm changing from. Picture from the visit to the lilacs -- though, well, it was looking pretty scary in this photo. We won't mention the inch or so of grey that was showing at the roots either. I know this doesn't show how long the old cut was -- but, um, I looked while they were sweeping up after my cut. They filled a dustpan with the hair. And then some. I think she said I had about 6" cut off. Wow -- my neck feels so breezy.

Oh, and side note -- do you have any idea how hard it is to take a picture of yourself? Yeah -- most of them ended up with me looking really surprised. Or ticked off. Or just otherwise strange. Though, looking at these photos -- I REALLY need to get my eyebrows done. EEEK. Now that's scary. (and Mom -- here you go, photos of the new hair as promised, and Elaine -- challenge of posting a photo of myself met!)

And yep, this is the only "cutting" that has been going on around here this week as well. Though, I am hoping to try and get that changed this weekend. Fingers crossed for some quality time with my rotary cutter and sewing machine.

As for the realization that sent me running for the drastic cut and color? Um, yeah -- I finally got around to doing some cleaning and organizing. I put away my fabrics (well most of them) that I've been collecting over the past six months. When I finished cramming stuffing shoving placing them in my fabric bins, I realized I have NO ROOM LEFT in my fabric storage area for any more fabric. Not even for a fat quarter or two. And, well, I may still have fabrics that need to be put away. So -- the quandary -- do I stop buying fabrics and use what I have to make room for new things (the prudent, adult, responsible thing to do) or do I figure out somewhere else to store my fabrics? I mean, Miss Tinkerbell is only three right? She can't possibly need a WHOLE closet to herself. Her clothes are SMALL right?

Cute hair!!! Good luck with the organizing. I could use some of that here as well.

You made me laugh with the "taking a picture of yourself" thing. You are so right how they come out awful! The hair cut is cute! The color..well, let's say we are of different ages! LOL! However, I think when it comes to hair you should just go for it. It is only hair! Who cares if it's pink, green or 3 shades of brown. Not for me but it grows out or is colored over soon enough. My red head daughter dyed her hair jet black! Did I like it? No! Did I really care? No. It's hair for heavens sake!

A new haircut especially with color/s is good for the soul! Enjoy! and just buy a few plastic tubs for the extra fabric !!!

Your hair cut is fab and I love, love, love the new color! Of course, why settle for one color when you can have several? I'm not sure I believe you that you have gray hair, you look much too young for that!

As for the fabric, just find more creative places to stash it. You can do it!!

Too much fabric is just the excuse to sew, sew, sew. Tell hubby he's got to distract Tink for the weekend or build an addition for the fabric ;-)

The others are right, a few tubs in Tink's room or under the table won't kill anyone. Neither will colorful hair. I actually like it. A bare neck is great for warmer summer weather!

The hair looks fab..love all the colours..gives it lots of dimension. It's a big change from what you had before...if you are anything like me you'll use too much shampoo the first few times you wash it now that it's shorter. ;o)
Good luck figuring out your fabric storage...When I couldn't get my fabric to fit in bins anymore I bought an IKEA cupboard..trust me it's the only way to go :o)

Go with pinching some of her closet space I'd say - after all when she gets to teenage years she'll pay you back by taking over the entire house - ask me how I know this ;o))) btw the colours in your hair are lovely

I like the new do! - especially the darker bit at the front - I have been wanting to do that for ages but not game.

Too much fabric is NEVER enough! :-)

I like your hair cut and color. You look very young and hip (I bet that was your goal, right? LOL!)

I love the colour and the nex you. I agree with Anne, start how yo mean to go on. After all, you're going to be in the house a lot longer than she is LOL.

I love the cut too and the color except I don't like the darker front part as much as the redder back. I've decided that I don't have the patience to have my gray colored but for some reason I'm slightly shocked when I see photos of myself where it stands out a lot like all the ones my son took of me this weekend.

I DO like the haircut, and MOSTLY, the color - plain is boring, (my motto!) congrats on your adventure, and THANK YOU for the photo! Helps us Bloggers to get an idea of who we're talking to.

OH, that reminds me, time to go upstairs and lock my self in the bathroom for 40 minutes for Clairol #79 treatment!

(I got sidetracked on my to-do project, reading all the blogs)

Later!

I am lovin' the 'do, girlfriend! The colors are beautiful! You have got to stop looking so serious, though. Next photo of yourself, I'd love a smile, please! LOL!
If you need room to store your fabrics, I have space in my sewing room, and I would take very good care of them for you! Ha ha ha!

Ooo - your hair is so pretty, look at those colors!! Yep, I need to do the fabric organizing and pare down thing. It is the adult thing to do, after all. (This from the woman who's fabric is taking over the entire first floor of the house....)

I just got my hair cut too... well about a week ago... Similar to yours actually - although I can't deal with bangs!!! It is SO hard to take a picture of yourself - check out my new 'do on my updated "whirlwind" post.

I like your new do! Very sophisticated! I think we all have more fabric than we can handle!

Anglea, how do you do that crossing words out in your post? Kinda neat.

It's hard to take a photo of yourself, I completely can relate to the whole "surprised and/or ticked off" comment, that made me laugh out loud. Your hair looks very nice and, no, Tink doesn't need all that closet space yet; go for it.

So nice straight hair. That is what I dream of with my sheep hair with quite some gray in it! I can´t believe either that you already have gray hair. Tink really does not need a whole cupboard for herself at the moment so go for it. (although it is a nice feeling too to work a whole project just from stash!) Take care.

Too funny! But obviously you're thinking in the right direction ;- )

I like the new hair color(s).

wow big difference! cool hair though!! yes, any time I try to take a picture of myself I look totally dorky too. my 14 year old can do it perfectly though, maybe it's the fact that she actually LIKES having her picture taken.

I love your haircut and hair color.

I shot some pictures of myself last week, too. You're right. I looked ticked off even though I thought I was smiling a little.

Good luck with the organizing.

Congratulations on winning over at Kim's blog!

I like it. Of course, I have several colours in my hair, too, although they are a bit more evenly spread out... Luckily, due to perhaps the colour of my hair or good genes, or something, I have very little grey, so at least that's not an issue for me!

Nice to see what you look like.

I like your tri-colors! But I have to admit that I abdicated responsiblity for hair color or style a couple years ago. My friend who does my hair is responsible for those decisions :)
